This week wasn’t random. It was pressure on citizenship, on trust, on institutions, and on the rule of law itself.

Denaturalization is legal, but historically rare and tightly handled. These cases require the government to prove, in court, that someone obtained citizenship through fraud or serious misconduct, using a very high standard of evidence. What’s different now is scale.

The administration is expanding these cases beyond immigration specialists and assigning them to prosecutors across 39 U.S. attorney offices, while the Department of Homeland Security increases referrals into the pipeline. In practical terms, that turns a careful legal process into something far more systematized and faster. For context: from 1990 to 2017, the U.S. averaged about 11 denaturalization cases per year. Now, hundreds are being queued at once.

Supporters argue this is about enforcing the law and holding bad actors accountable. And yes, legitimate fraud should be prosecuted. But legal experts warn this shift carries broader implications. Expanding denaturalization at scale risks creating a chilling effect, particularly among naturalized citizens who may begin to question the permanence of their status. It also raises concerns about how this power could be used over time, especially given historical examples where denaturalization targeted disfavored groups.

The bottom line: this isn’t just about 384 cases. It’s about redefining how secure American citizenship really is.

2. They Went After the Fed Chair, Then Quietly Walked It Back

The U.S. Department of Justice just dropped its criminal probe into Jerome Powell, clearing the path for Kevin Warsh to take over the central bank.

The timing isn’t subtle.

The investigation, led by Jeanine Pirro, focused on cost overruns tied to a Fed renovation. A federal judge had already blocked it, calling it an improper attempt to pressure the Fed. Prosecutors said they’d keep pushing.

Now? It’s gone.

Officially, it’s being handed to the Fed’s inspector general, who has already reviewed the project and found no wrongdoing. Unofficially, the reality is clearer: the probe had become a roadblock to Warsh’s confirmation, with key Senate Republicans refusing to move forward until it was dropped.

So the investigation disappears. The nomination moves forward.

Here’s why that matters: The Federal Reserve is supposed to be independent, not a technicality, but what allows it to set interest rates based on the economy, not politics. Trump has repeatedly attacked Powell and pushed for aggressive rate cuts, even as inflation risks rise. When legal pressure, political pressure, and economic policy start overlapping, the line erodes. And when an investigation a judge already questioned suddenly vanishes at a key political moment…It’s hard to argue that line is still intact.

3. They’re Showing Up, But They Don’t Believe It Matters Anymore

A new poll from the Harvard Institute of Politics just delivered a warning that we should be paying attention to: Young Americans aren’t checking out. They’re losing faith. Half of Americans under 30 now say people like them have no real say in government.

Trust in the federal government? Just 15%. Only 13% think the country is headed in the right direction. This isn’t apathy. It’s disillusionment.

The pressure is real and immediate. Inflation and housing aren’t abstract policy debates; they’re defining daily life. Nearly half say they’re struggling financially or barely getting by. And the optimism that once defined this generation? It’s collapsing. The belief they’ll be better off than their parents has nearly disappeared.

But here’s where it gets even more concerning. Even as young voters lean Democratic, just 33% trust that elections will be conducted fairly. Only 12% say they feel motivated to participate. Think about that gap. They have opinions and are paying attention, but they don’t believe the system works. And that’s the fracture. Because democracy doesn’t just rely on people showing up, it relies on people believing it matters when they do.

What this poll shows is a generation caught in between, still engaged but increasingly skeptical. Still watching, but losing confidence.

4. He Knew the Raid Was Coming and Bet On It

A U.S. Army Special Forces soldier is now facing federal charges after allegedly using classified intelligence about a covert mission to profit big, betting on the fall of Nicolás Maduro before it happened.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the soldier, who was part of the operation to capture Maduro, used insider knowledge to place bets on the prediction market platform Polymarket.

The result?
$32,000 in bets turned into more than $400,000 in profit.

Prosecutors say he wasn’t subtle about it either, allegedly using multiple accounts, leaving a digital trail, and even trying to delete evidence once the payouts drew attention.

Now he’s been charged with:

• Wire fraud

• Commodities fraud

• Misuse of classified information

This is the first time U.S. authorities have brought criminal charges tied to prediction market betting like this, and it lands at a moment when these platforms are exploding in popularity and scrutiny.

But strip it down, and this is about something bigger than one soldier.

It’s about trust.

The people entrusted with the country’s most sensitive information—military plans, intelligence operations—are expected to protect it. Not monetize it. Because when classified information becomes a tool for personal profit, the damage doesn’t just stay financial. It cuts into operational security, and it risks lives.

Here’s the part that should stand out to all of us—we can hold a soldier accountable for abusing classified information to make money, and we should. But let’s zoom out. Because corruption doesn’t just happen at the bottom, it’s modeled at the top.

We’re living in a moment where questions about conflicts of interest, influence-peddling, and self-enrichment at the highest levels of government aren’t fringe, they’re constant.

And when people see that, it sends a message that there’s one set of rules for those at the top, and another for everyone else. Accountability looks selective, and power protects itself.

So yes, hold this soldier accountable. But don’t pretend this story starts with him.

5. He’s Attacking a Supreme Court Justice Ahead of a Major Ruling

I’ve been tracking this case closely because the stakes couldn’t be higher.

With a major Supreme Court ruling on birthright citizenship expected soon, Donald Trump did exactly what he always does when he knows he’s on shaky ground: he lashed out.

This time at Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, calling her “low IQ” and singling her out ahead of a decision that could reshape what it means to be an American.

Justice Jackson is one of the most qualified people to ever sit on that bench. When she was confirmed, I felt proud, because she belongs there. Period. And now she’s being targeted, not because she’s unqualified, but because she won’t bend.

That’s what this is.

Trump and the people around him, including Stephen Miller, know exactly how weak their argument is on birthright citizenship. They know what the Constitution says. They know what the 14th Amendment protects.

So instead of winning on the law, they try to bully the people who will uphold it.

This isn’t normal political criticism. It’s intimidation. It’s degradation. And, it’s deliberate. If they can convince people the justices aren’t legitimate, then the ruling doesn’t have to be either. That’s the playbook.

But here’s the reality. These justices are going to rule on principle, based on the Constitution and the law. Not on his insults. No amount of name-calling is going to change that.

When a white supremacist opened fire in an El Paso Walmart, my aunt was inside that store, and I was the one who walked into the West Wing, manifesto in hand, and told them to their face: “This is a hate crime.”

This is the great replacement theory. And your president’s words are radicalizing people.

They didn’t want to hear it.

During COVID, I ran the White House Coronavirus Task Force day-to-day. I set every agenda. I coordinated with Dr. Fauci and every cabinet official on that task force. I was the one calling governors to figure out how to dock cruise ships full of stranded Americans when no port would take them.

Behind the scenes, I fought Stephen Miller’s team when they tried to slash the refugee ceiling to zero. I fought Katie Miller when she doctored public health guidance to serve the president’s political agenda. They blocked me from meetings, but I showed up anyway. I told them I represented the Vice President, and had every right to be there.

And that’s why I’m showing up this week as I announce my candidacy to serve Virginia in Congress.

Look, I’ve been in this fight for quite some time.

After I resigned, they offered me the position of Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security to keep me quiet. I turned it down. I walked away from everything I’d built.

To those of you who stood with me through that, who supported me when the Proud Boys were shouting my name in hotel lobbies, when Trump’s allies went on television and lied about me, when his attorneys dragged me into court, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You showed me that their intimidation tactics would not work. That their lawsuits and their death threats would not silence the truth.

I have never backed down. And I won’t start now.

That’s why I’m launching my campaign for Congress, because Virginia and the rest of our country deserve every fighter they can get in Congress.

I grew up being told I didn’t belong.

I didn’t belong in the gifted classroom.

I didn’t belong at Penn; they said I only got in because of affirmative action.

1. They’re Not Just Deporting People. They’re Disappearing Them.

🚨 Deported and Then Gone (NPR)

The U.S. is deporting migrants straight into a system where due process doesn’t exist, where legal rights and protections are stripped away, and in some cases, people simply disappear.

Under Nayib Bukele’s ongoing “state of exception,” people sent back to El Salvador are being detained without charges, cut off from families, and in some cases, never heard from again. Human rights groups report thousands imprisoned, hundreds dead, and many more effectively vanished.

Here’s the part that should stop you cold…the U.S. government knows what’s happening. We’re sharing data, coordinating, and sending people anyway.

This isn’t just immigration policy anymore. The U.S. is outsourcing detention to a system with no transparency and no accountability. And once they’re gone? No calls. No lawyers. No proof of life. They’re just gone.

2. The Music Industry Finally Got Its Day in Court—and Fans Won (Sort Of)

🎟️ Fans Were Right: Ticketmaster Was Rigged (CNN)

If you’ve ever rage-clicked through fees on Ticketmaster and wondered how this was even legal, a jury just answered that for you. It wasn’t. As a music lover and avid concertgoer, this one hits, and honestly, it’s about time.

A federal jury found that Live Nation Entertainment, Ticketmaster’s parent, illegally operated as a monopoly, overcharging fans and locking down the live music ecosystem for years.

Translation: the system wasn’t broken. It was built this way.

We’re talking about a company that controls ticketing, venues, promotion, and in many cases, the artists’ access to all of the above. That’s not competition. It’s control.

The jury even put a number on it. $1.72 in overcharges per ticket. Doesn’t sound like much until you multiply it by millions of tickets over the years. Suddenly, you’re looking at hundreds of millions back on the table. However, here’s the reality check, you’re not getting cheaper tickets tomorrow. The ruling opens the door, maybe, to more competition, possibly even breaking up parts of the company. But the system doesn’t unwind overnight, and Live Nation is already signaling it will fight this.

Still, this matters. Because for the first time, the industry’s worst-kept secret was proven in court. Fans weren’t imagining it. Artists weren’t exaggerating it. They were being squeezed. And if this actually leads to real competition? That could change everything, from prices to who gets on stage in the first place.

This is her lane. At the same time, Trump-aligned officials are pushing to move fast, potentially toward a grand jury indictment in the coming weeks.

So look at what’s actually happening here:

– A political referral from allies like Jim Jordan
– A case targeting a longtime Trump critic
– A veteran prosecutor says the evidence isn’t there
– She’s out
– And the push to indict accelerates anyway

This isn’t about resolving facts. It’s about forcing an outcome. And it doesn’t stop with Brennan. This same playbook has already shown up in other cases—prosecutors pushed out, replaced with loyalists, charges filed anyway, and then thrown out in court. That’s the real risk here.

When the justice system starts working backward, starting with a target and then finding the charge… you’re not enforcing the law; you’re bending it.

This accountability didn’t happen overnight. States United Democracy Center helped spark it, filing the original bipartisan ethics complaint in 2021 that set this process in motion. After years of investigations, hearings, and findings of intentional misconduct, the court made its final decision.

At a moment when the rule of law is being tested, this is a nice reminder that there are still consequences for those who try to break it.

5. The FBI Has a Leadership Problem—and It’s Not Quiet Anymore

The person running the FBI is reportedly… missing in action.

According to multiple current and former officials, Kash Patel’s tenure has been marked by erratic behavior, unexplained absences, and serious concerns about judgment, including allegations of excessive drinking and being unreachable during critical moments.

And yes, this is the same Kash Patel who threatened to sue me for saying he was unfit to serve as FBI Director. I still showed up at his confirmation hearing, while Richard Grenell was suing me, and Patel was threatening me. You don’t back down. You face it head-on.

Now here we are.

I witnessed the hatred and racism of the Trump Administration firsthand.

Trump’s personal henchman, Stephen Miller, called me at home to try to convince me we should bomb Mexico. He thought he could use my background against me.

I remember him saying something along the lines of, “I know you’re from the border, I know you care about the cartels.” He wanted me to demonize my own people.

I wouldn’t, and I never will.

I watched Donald Trump refuse to release disaster relief for California wildfires because it was a blue state. I was in the room when we had to pull voter data from Orange County to prove that some of his own supporters lived there, and that was the only reason he agreed to send help.

Not because Americans were losing their homes. Because some of them had voted for him.

And when a white supremacist opened fire in my hometown of El Paso, in a Walmart where my aunt was shopping for back-to-school supplies, I was the one who carried the shooter’s manifesto into the West Wing.

The gunman wrote about the “Hispanic invasion of Texas.” The same language the president used. My aunt described the shooter to me over the phone. Twenty-three people died that day, including Mexican citizens who had crossed the border just to go shopping.

The president’s response to the situation disgusted me. This is not the country my mother worked so hard for and believed in.

So, when I couldn’t stop what was happening from the inside anymore, I resigned. They offered me a promotion to keep me in the fold. I said no. They offered to place me in a senior role at DHS. I said no to that, too.

Because I understood that if I took it, I’d never get free of the chaos, and I’d never be able to tell the truth about what I’d seen. I’d be culpable in their corruption.

Some of you have been with me since I made that choice. You were there when I went public, and my whole life changed overnight.

When the harassment campaigns started. When they lied on national television and said I’d been fired. When Trump’s lawyers came after me.

You didn’t flinch. You didn’t leave. And I need you to know that is the reason I’m still standing here today.

I’m the daughter of a truck driver and a Mexican immigrant. I grew up in a working-class Texas border town and learned English watching Sesame Street. After my parents divorced, my mom and I leaned on family and made ends meet without health insurance. When I found out my stepfather was abusing her, I helped her flee in the middle of the night.

So, I know what it means to fight when the stakes are real.

After September 11th, I felt called to serve. I went to work at the Pentagon, spent a year in a warzone in Iraq, and served under both President Bush and President Obama in counter-terrorism roles. I watched Stephen Miller scream at career officials for not being cruel enough at the border — my border, where I grew up, where my family still lives. I watched good people get ground down and pushed out for telling the truth.

So in 2020, I did something that terrified me: I resigned, and I went public.

I became one of the first senior Trump officials to speak out. I stood on stage at the Democratic National Convention. I campaigned against Trump in 2024. I wrote about everything I’d seen on my Substack — and you read it.

They sued me. MAGA stooge Richard Grenell dragged me through years of lawfare trying to silence me — and just last week, a federal court threw out his case with prejudice. They tried to break me financially, professionally, and personally. It didn’t work.

1. The MAGA Machine Is Cracking, From the Inside

For years, Trump’s power didn’t just come from the Republican Party, it came from the machine around him. Podcasters. Streamers. Influencers. An ecosystem that amplified his message and sold it to millions—a decentralized network that could mobilize faster, louder, and more effectively than anything we’ve seen in modern politics.

That machine is starting to fracture both publicly and unmistakably.

Some of the same voices that helped build it are now calling his rhetoric on Iran reckless, dangerous, even immoral. Even figures like Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan are starting to question him in ways they haven’t before. This isn’t coming from opponents. It’s coming from the people who spent years defending Trump and his inner circle of enablers.

That matters. Because this was always the real engine behind his power, not party leadership or traditional media. And now parts of it are turning. The base may still be there. Polling shows the loyalty hasn’t disappeared, but the amplification, the permission structure, that’s where cracks start to matter. Movements don’t collapse all at once. They weaken when the people who built them stop defending everything. When the message stops landing the same way, and doubt starts creeping in from inside the house.

That’s what this is. The question is whether it lasts because these ecosystems don’t just run on ideas, they run on incentives.

2. “We Were Left Exposed”—The Reality of This War

Six American service members are dead. More than 20 wounded. A March drone strike on a U.S. position in Kuwait was the deadliest attack on U.S. troops since 2021.

Now the people who survived are speaking out. What they’re describing doesn’t match what the Pentagon has said. Officials called it a fortified position, a single drone that “squeaked by.” The soldiers say otherwise.

They were moved closer to danger into a known target zone. The base had little to no protection from aerial attacks. When the drone hit, it was a direct strike, with no real defense in place.

This isn’t just one incident. It’s how this war is being fought, and how it’s changing. Cheap, highly effective drones are rewriting the battlefield. The defenses that worked in Iraq and Afghanistan don’t work the same way anymore. And the gap between strategy and reality? That’s where lives are lost.

What stays with you isn’t just the strike, it’s what came after: Soldiers treating each other with makeshift tourniquets. Driving the wounded themselves. Knowing that not everyone made it out.

This may have been preventable. And as one soldier put it, this isn’t about morale, it’s about telling the truth so the same mistakes aren’t repeated.

That’s the part you don’t hear in press conferences. This isn’t clean. It isn’t controlled. And it’s not unfolding the way people are being told. This is what war actually looks like on the ground.

3. The U.S. Is Quietly Preparing for a Draft

The draft hasn’t been used since the Vietnam War. For decades, registration relied on individuals opting in. Now the government is removing that step entirely.

That doesn’t mean a draft is coming tomorrow. Congress would still have to authorize it. But this is about readiness. Building a system that can move faster if that moment ever comes. Reducing friction between decision and execution. And in the context of everything else happening right now: an expanding conflict, rising global instability, and increased military posture–it lands differently. These kinds of changes don’t happen in a vacuum. They happen when planners are thinking ahead. When scenarios that once felt unlikely start getting taken seriously again.

Most people won’t feel this immediately. There’s no visible disruption. No headline panic. Just a quiet shift in the background. But it’s the kind of shift worth paying attention to because it tells you how the government is thinking about what could come next.

I’ve seen how this system works from the inside, and changes like this are worth paying attention to.

4. Your Phone Isn’t as Private as You Think

Two separate stories this week. Same takeaway.

ICE confirmed it’s using spyware that can access encrypted messages, without you clicking anything. That’s called zero-click technology. It means your phone can be accessed without you doing a thing.

At the same time, a new case revealed something else:

The FBI didn’t break encryption to read Signal messages. They went around it by pulling message previews stored in a phone’s internal notification system, even after messages were deleted and the app was gone.

No click required. No encryption broken. Just the gaps. This is the reality. Tools introduced for one purpose—terrorism, trafficking, national security—are quietly being expanded.

I care about keeping this country safe. I also care about our privacy, our civil liberties, and what we give up in the process. Capabilities grow, oversight struggles to keep up, and before you know it, the definition of what’s "acceptable" shifts. This isn’t one agency. It’s not one tool. It’s a direction.

5. The Supreme Court Is Rolling Back Civil Rights

For decades, the trajectory was clear. Rights expanded because people fought for them. Protections grew because someone chose to defend them. That’s apparently over. The current Supreme Court is now rejecting civil rights claims more often than it upholds them—the first time that’s happened in modern history. That’s not just a shift. It’s a reversal, and it’s showing up everywhere: voting rights, LGBTQ+ protections, affirmative action, and religious exemptions.

At the same time, the Court is more polarized than it has been in decades. There’s no real center anymore. The Supreme Court isn’t supposed to swing like this. It’s supposed to hold the line. But when rulings start tracking ideology this closely, everything changes. What’s protected. Who is covered. What people can count on. Once those lines move, they don’t move back easily. They become the new baseline.

This is how rights get rolled back, one decision at a time.

🧪 One Thing That Made Me Spit Out My Coffee

This one stayed with me.

In the 1990s, a 17-year-old Boy Scout built a homemade nuclear reactor in a backyard shed outside Detroit. It wasn’t a theory and wasn’t a class project. It was a real attempt using radioactive materials; he figured out how to source them himself. He wrote letters posing as a professor. Collected materials piece by piece. Built equipment. Tracked radiation levels. And for a while… no one stopped him. It was only discovered by accident, after police found radioactive material in his car. By the time authorities investigated, the site had to be treated as a federal cleanup site.

A teenager, on his own, got that far. Not because he had power, but because he had curiosity and persistence.

(And yes, this took me back to getting in trouble for a sixth-grade science experiment. Refining copper from pennies in the garage. Goggles on. Sulfuric acid fumes filled the house. My mom was not impressed. For the record, I made it to the district science fair.)

It’s easy to assume the systems we rely on catch everything. They don’t. Curiosity can build incredible things, but sometimes it gets further than anyone realizes.

I spent this week watching the same thing play out across very different stories:

Decisions at the top. Consequences everywhere else.

From veterans on the brink of losing their homes, to shifts inside the military, to a workforce dividing in real time—this isn’t abstract.

Different headlines, same throughline.

1. Veterans Are Losing Their Homes, It Didn’t Have to Happen

More than 10,000 veterans have already lost their homes. Another 90,000 are on the brink, and it didn’t have to happen. This wasn’t complicated, and it wasn’t unforeseen.

The Trump administration shut down a Veterans Affairs rescue program that was actively helping veterans stay in their homes, after being warned that ending it without a replacement would lead to mass foreclosures.

They did it anyway. There was no transition or backup plan, just a bureaucratic cliff.

Veterans who fell behind, many because of injuries, job loss, or delays in disability payments, were left with impossible choices: Pay everything back at once, accept higher monthly payments they couldn’t afford, or lose their homes. Some were literally told not to make payments while waiting for help, and then pushed into foreclosure for falling behind.

These are combat veterans—families relying on a system that’s supposed to provide one of the most meaningful benefits of service—a pathway to stability, to the middle class, to a home. Right now, it’s doing the opposite.

This isn’t just a housing crisis. It’s a policy failure.

Yes, I’m angry. Once again, the people paying the price are those who serve.

2. The Pentagon Purge Continues

Another one, gone.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth just forced Army Chief Randy George to step down early, without explanation. There was no scandal, failure, or reason given. Just removed.

And it’s not happening in a vacuum.

This comes in the middle of the largest U.S. conflict in the Middle East in two decades. And he’s not alone. Top military leaders across the services have been pushed out across the Air Force, Navy, Joint Chiefs, senior intelligence, and even military lawyers.

Let’s call this what it is: A purge.

Because when experienced, independent leadership gets replaced all at once, it’s not about performance. It’s about control.

The military is meant to operate on one principle: mission, law, and the Constitution. Not politics, not loyalty tests, not who aligns with the agenda of the moment. Yet, that’s where we’re headed. The issue is both structural and ideological.

Hegseth has framed this war effort in explicitly religious terms, calling for prayers for victory “in the name of Jesus Christ.” Even Pope Leo XIV pushed back this week, warning that domination and destruction are “entirely foreign to the way of Jesus Christ.” That contrast says a lot.

You don’t remove this many senior leaders this fast, especially in the middle of a conflict, unless you’re trying to reshape the institution itself.

The question isn’t just who’s being pushed out, but who’s being put in, and why. The answer is clear.

3. The Real Divide Isn’t AI, It’s Who Knows How to Use It

The divide isn’t coming. It’s already here.

New data from Anthropic shows something more subtle, and more important, than job loss when it comes to Artificial Intelligence (AI). The gap isn’t between people who use AI and people who don’t. It’s between people who know how to use it well and everyone else.

Same tools. Same access. Different outcomes.

People with just a few months of experience are already producing better work—faster, sharper, more effective. Not because they’re smarter. Because they’ve learned how to work with it. That’s the shift.

AI isn’t replacing the workforce. It’s dividing it. A two-tier system is forming in real time: Those who can collaborate with AI, and those who can’t. And yes, the gap compounds.

The more fluent you are, the faster you improve. The further ahead you get.

But here’s the part people are missing: This isn’t fixed.

The barrier to entry is still low. You don’t need permission or a new degree. You just need to start utilizing.

Use it to think, not just search. Push it. Question it. Refine it. Treat it like a partner, not a shortcut.

The real risk isn’t AI. It’s standing still while others learn to move with it.

4. Fired in the Limo

This is how it happened. Attorney General Pam Bondi was in "The Beast" (the presidential limo, as it’s often referred to) on the way to the Supreme Court when Trump told her she was out. "I think it’s time."

Then she still had to sit through the hearing on birthright citizenship, side by side with him. Knowing.

Call it what it is, humiliation.

After months of trying to deliver—pushing investigations, chasing targets, taking the heat from the Epstein fallout—it still wasn’t enough.

Earlier this week, a seasoned Army general was pushed out. Now, a loyalist attorney general is gone too. Different people. Different approaches. Same outcome.

So what actually protects you? Not competence. Not loyalty. In this system, neither is enough. This pattern was obvious in Trump 1.0. The real question is why anyone in this latest Cabinet thought they’d be the exception.

The rules shift. The pressure flows down. And anyone can be next, no matter how far they go to cover for Trump and prove themselves.

5. The World Is Sending the Bill for Trump’s War

This is where it lands.

Not in speeches. Not in press briefings. In people’s daily lives.

A doctor in New Zealand just sent the U.S. embassy a nearly $3,000 bill for rising fuel costs tied to the Iran conflict. Not as a stunt. As a statement.

After Trump’s Iran speech, oil prices surged, jumping as much as 8–11% overnight. That spike didn’t stay on trading floors. It hit gas pumps worldwide. The doctor’s staff can’t afford to get to work. So the clinic covered it. Now he’s asking the U.S. to pay it back.

Because from where the rest of the world is sitting, this wasn’t inevitable. It was the result of decisions, escalation, and a war that didn’t have to happen.

And while Washington debates strategy… or the lack of one…

The impact is already here:

Higher fuel.

Higher costs.

Real strain on real people.

This invoice isn’t about the money. It’s about accountability.

💫 One Thing For Your Soul

Sometimes the universe course-corrects.

On March 1, Jess McClain was leading the U.S. Half Marathon Championships in Atlanta—commanding lead, world championship spot basically in hand—when the official pace car led her and two other runners off the course with barely a mile to go.

She had to come to a complete stop, make a tight U-turn, and run back onto the course as a national title and a Team USA spot slipped away.

She finished ninth.

Appeals were filed. Appeals were denied. Prize money was offered as a consolation.

But this week, World Athletics granted USA Track & Field a one-time exception to send seven women, rather than the standard four, to the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen this September. McClain, Hurley, and Kurgat got their spots.

And the woman who officially won? Molly Born made clear she didn’t consider herself the true winner, and said she would likely have turned down a solo team spot she didn’t feel she earned.

Everyone did the right thing. Sports bureaucracy, the official winner, the governing body—all of them.

Proof that ethics and integrity > ego can actually happen.
