I live in Minneapolis. The Lollipop Guild may have recalled Boss Munchkin Bovino, but I don't give a shit. The city smells better today without him in it, but the rot remains and so does our resolve.
Of course we will keep showing up. Some with phones or cameras, some in costume, some with musical instruments. Keep those videos. They may be useful if/when accountability comes.
I am completely in awe and humbled by the citizens of Minnesota. The heinousness of the murder of George Floyd years ago now; a Black man, who enough still question his worthiness as a human.
Yet no longer can we ignore the connection to the resentment of what George Floyd exposed: true humanity abounding but not lasting. We exposed what we ignored-a thin layer of the stubborn, deep seeded racism in America. This is now augmented by a willingness at all costs to seek to erase our diverse nation even sacrificing their own represented in the kind, empathetic resolve of two people who chose humanity through resistance.
They didn’t have to die; we don’t have to die. All we really need is more people-you know, like Alex and Renee.
