Betty Jean King is going back to school? Wow! Good for her. I went back at age 40, felt awkward, but stayed through to my PhD. One big takeaway from that was the more you learn, the more you need to learn. It never ends. Learning is forever. That's something that the Great Gilded One will never understand. He will stay proudly ignorant accompanied by his like-minded MAGAts.

Good for Billie Jean King! You GO Girl! Excellent words re education and learning, Jim! I, too, went back at age 40, for my Master’s degree (Music). Highlight of my life! May the learning never end!

I went back in my early forties, but I didn't feel out of place because of the effort of MSU's Adult Returning Students office.

I turned 40 in my first year of Medical School, had a wonderful career in medicine and wouldn’t change a thing. I’m now 74 and still look for learning opportunities. Thanks to you Olivia.

Never thought there could be someone worse than Lindsay Graham but holy catfish! This “government” is a runaway train and the lunatics truly are running the asylum. Thank you for keeping us informed.

Or perhaps, as pointed out at the end of “King of Hearts” the people in the asylum may have more sanity than those who still live a world of tribalism and wars. When will they ever learn? I am afraid this regime’s actions will take away our posterity’s chance to show they can, either because of the changes of climate catastrophe or nuclear winter.

I feel your comment deeply. What with moving nuclear subs off the coast of Russia and rolling back environmental protections on fossil fuels, it’s a toss up as to which happens first.

Olivia, you are right to point out the Project 2025 dangers, and they have already had unfortunate accomplishments and by-products. Their work appeared to vastly accelerate the rate of Trump’s Executive Orders, and destruction of many organizations.

Thanks for bringing up these topics every week, even though they are indeed, hard to swallow.

My mother also went back to school at 60 to get her ged. She was still in college at 82. I was so happy for her. It’s never too late.

Excellent read! I've been distracted for a while working on "The Confederate Continuum: Civil War" (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SAjTMpBpCXrv_aTkrlU34oLJtiiq4BSDupOFA5-Euf0/edit?usp=sharing) and just found time to read your latest summary of events. Thanks for keeping me up-to-date on Trump's airborne golden toilet, among other corruptions!

This country has a huge and fast growing affordable housing crisis which there seems to be no interest in addressing by our so-called leaders. Yet, we can just pop out billion$ for refurbishing unnecessary jets and officers and structures to make sure innocent people are incarcerated. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is beyond imagination and possibilities are endless (and horrifying) as there are no indicators of sound vision, thoughtfulness, compassion, common sense, and longer term unintended consequences.

Really appreciate the humor and insight you brought to this week’s summary of corruption and ridiculousness. Your take made me smile, even though the dangers of this administration just keeps getting worse. Thank you, Olivia!

(Incoming sarcasm) My god, Olivia, did you forget that there are several trans people competing in the NCAA??? And there are also several trans kids who play sports in high school in this country??? And, I guess you just don’t care about the fact that Coca-Cola isn’t using cane sugar in all of its sodas???

Jeez, I bet you’re another one of those people who are still talking about the Epstein “hoax”. You realize that Epstein stole one of trump’s towel girls, right? Epstein stole her! That same girl committed suicide a couple of months ago, but that doesn’t matter, what matters is Epstein STOLE her from trump! That was trump’s under age girl to sexually assault, not Epstein’s!

Trump was still upset about it two years later in an interview where he said that Epstein was a great friend and loves beautiful women and likes them really young (wink wink). Trump was still very mad that Epstein got to sexually abuse and traffic that towel girl, whatever her name was, when she should have been trump’s!

Anyway, try to enjoy your weekend knowing that poor trump has to deal with that liar at the BLS who reported the incredibly low number of jobs created last month after revising the numbers for the previous two months down to a measly 19,000 and 13,000 jobs.

Poor, poor trump. (Again, all sarcasm)

Reality tip: not everybody understands sarcasm, especially when it is a comment to a social media post.

Second reality tip: there are people who reply to these type of comments after only reading the first couple of lines and never bother to read the entire post. That get’s annoying and I don’t feel like explaining to people who will never bother to read it or understand sarcasm.

Third reality tip: I am a pharmacist and we are taught how to explain extremely complicated subjects to people at a sixth grade reading and development level, because that is the ability of the average adult in this country. Having practiced that technic for 20 years, I have learned to apply it to every situation to help save my time, energy and sanity.

Have a wonderful day!
