Beautifully said, Olivia. It's hard to watch America descend into this from over here in Switzerland. Hard to comprehend that there is nothing to do but stand strong and watch that %%&&%%&" do whatever he wants. I'm sending you courage, strength, and love.

Thanks. Needed to hear this today. And it’s people like Michael Wolff standing up. I worry for his young family but applaud his courage.

Thank you Olivia. The destruction of the East Wing was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. It was a giant middle finger to the world that said "you can't stop me". And no one did.

I'm struggling & words like yours are going to dig me out of this hole.

BTW - I live in Truth or Consequences, NM right up the road from El Paso. Even in our Red County we had 375 people turn out for No Kings - almost twice the June rally! There was even a protest in tiny Kingston, population 50.

Thank you for your perseverance in the face of this onslaught on our democracy.

Olivia, Thank you so much for your inspiration and courage. If my memory is correct your resignation from Trump1 occurred in the midst or immediately in the wake of the January

6th insurrection. There were others like Miles Taylor. Your willingness to stand for truth in the sea of lies and denialism speaks volumes of your integrity at great personal risk to stand out as true patriotism and could

now be seen as a big first step in the Resistance 4 years later.

Your optimism and leadership by example are incredibly important to the fight. Your efforts are so appreciated!

I’m 73 and fear I won’t live to see my country restored. But I will stand, or sit, with my countrymen who refuse to be quiet until my last breath. The incontinent toddler and his merry band of sycophants and thieves will never quiet my voice or the voices of millions like me. Stay strong!

I'm 69. We had a really good run. I was born during Eisenhower I. The country was booming, it strode the world like a colossus. It believed its own bullshit about equal rights and opportunity for everyone and then struggled mightily behind the scenes to make that as real as possible. Everyone either feared us or wanted to be us. So no wonder this hurts us so much more than the young ones who have nothing better to compare this to.

I understand all the wise and cynical punditry coming from the young, now. I was an idiot with no frontal lobes once, too. But let me tell you this: the old vote, the old are fully invested (many of us generationally), the old give a fat rat's ass. They fear us. That's why they waste so much breath mocking our participation (domination in some places) in the protests, large and small. They know us. They know their bullshit doesn't work on us because this is not our first rodeo.

Here in the South we have squads of nonagenarian church ladies wearing giant flowered hats linking arms and singing "We Shall Overcome". They are frail. They have seen most of their friends die. They marched with Dr. King when they were *grown ass women*. They are the toughest thing on the fucking planet. They cannot be touched. They terrify anybody. I've seen rough, rapacious real estate developers fold like a loose house of cards when they just show up. ICE will shit their little knee pants.

We won't win this by ourselves. But we sure as hell will be major wood behind the arrow.

So well said, my friend! I am also from the South and I know these old ladies you speak of. We may be old but we have grit. Thank you for putting so eloquently into words what I was thinking.

I have purchased five hazmat suits with respirators.

Join us at the Asbestos Alert Protest this Friday at NOON.

We will be near (where there is a view of the demolition) the East Wing to help raise the alarm that no federally mandated asbestos containment procedures are taking place.

Carcinogens that cause mesothelioma are clouding the air and getting carted through the streets of DC. The entire building should have been encased in a massive tent to prevent the escape of asbestos particals.

Bring a respirator and a sign..

In my earlier work life, I worked for a large savings and loan bank managing properties in foreclosure and dealt with asbestos removal at a large hotel in Riverside, CA that was being converted to a student housing complex. Also a large apartment complex in Denver that had popcorn asbestos ceilings. Building by building all the tenants were relocated to hotels. Both were massive undertakings and I can’t even fathom what’s all in the East Wing. It truly breaks my heart to see this Vandal in Chief destroy OUR HOUSE!

Who can we call when the entire Government is shut down? I reached my Congressman’s local office and today I’m determined to find out if there’s anyone home at the EPA. Might also call Muriel Bowser’s office (she probably would be concerned about the asbestos). Both my Senators are AWOL. I could only leave messages.

The demolition of the East Wing is a bridge too far. Seeing it broke me. Love of country is in my DNA. Why are we allowing this to continue? How many phone calls to my Congressman will it take? I smell the stench of the imaginary shit the so called King dropped on the American people. How can I wash it away? There is no soap strong enough I fear.

What’s hard to watch is the amount of absolute destruction in only 10 months. If someone or something doesn’t stop this, it will be generations before we can dig ourselves out. Hope is important but we also need action. This is beyond treachery and narcissism. It’s totalitarianism. Will John Roberts ever say Enough!?
