A note from former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn

Hi, it’s Olivia Troye. Thanks so much for your support yesterday! I’m passing along a note from my friend Harry Dunn. He stood up for our democracy on January 6, and I’m proud to have his support from the very start of this campaign. Will you read his message?

Hey! It’s Harry Dunn, former Capitol Police Officer turned candidate for Congress.

I asked my friend Olivia if I could reach out to you on her behalf to explain just how important – and honestly, badass – her campaign for Congress is.

But before I dive into it, I want to know if saving our democracy is worth just $5 to you? If $5 meant flipping the House blue and stopping Donald Trump’s unchecked power, if it meant that MAGA didn’t have unfiltered access to dismantling our democracy – would you make that small sacrifice right now?

Olivia and I share something very heavy and dark in common: we saw the carnage and corruption of Donald Trump’s administration up close and personal.

I was there on January 6. I defended Congresspeople – Democrats and Republicans – from the violent insurrectionists.

My fellow officers and I were beaten and pepper-sprayed. We were trampled and called slurs I’d never been called in my life.

And after I spoke out, after I testified? The death threats poured in. I couldn’t go on social media without seeing messages of violence and denial of what I went through.

But after that day, I decided that I couldn’t sit by and let him and the rest of the MAGA mob get away with this.

Our democracy is precious. And if we continue to let Trump and his cronies keep control of the House, that democracy will crumble before our very eyes.

And no one knows this better than my friend Olivia Troye. She was working at DHS when Trump was first elected in 2016.

She tried to do damage control from the inside. She sat in the Situation Room and Oval Office begging them to do the right thing.

They wouldn’t.

So she resigned, and she spoke out. It almost cost her everything, literally. MAGA cronies threatened her life. She watched as unknown cars drove by her house. They sued her, tried to bankrupt her – anything they could do to silence her.

But she wouldn’t go down without a fight. And now, Trump’s back in power and back to destroying our democracy. So Olivia is running to bring that Courage to Congress.
