I would not trust Stephen Miller with the keys to my 25 year old Toyota, let alone the country’s intelligence. A malignant, evil, self-loathing, racist homunculus — and those are his good traits.

The dude looks like Klaus Kinski's Nosferatu.

Now, now, it is not nice to body shame Nosferatu…….

So much of what is happening right now seems to me, a law layman, to be disqualifying to anyone who swore an oath to defend the constitution. Regardless of one’s political views, this cannot be tolerated. And yet, the republicans are silent.

Do you think it will be possible in the future to do a FOIA request of Palantir?

What confounds me is that if the Biden or Obama administrations were doing this, the GOP would be in hysterics. However, we have Trump and its crickets. We are on the verge, if not there already, with ending democracy and becoming an authoritarian nation. National security should not be compromised by the right or the left. Yet, it’s all happening in plain sight

I believe Democrats are fighting this with lawsuits. And, they're winning 96%... they are not very public about it, but they are working behind the scenes. 🤗

PMB-CA's avatar

True, but they are being too quiet about it. Democrats need to be loud – very loud!

Ivan J. Boatwright Jr.'s avatar

They must be seen and heard, but not liars or bullies as the Taco Baby followers are.

Ivan J. Boatwright Jr.'s avatar

Unfortunately, the quiet approach loses out to the loudmouths of Bunker Boy Putin's cronies, as well as Taco Baby's loudmouthed freaks.

Dems need to be shouting from the rooftops. My concern is that the courts won’t hold in the long term. Each case Trump loses now, will go,to the Supreme Court and who knows what will happen? Will the court side with or against Trump? If against, will Trump abide by the ruling? If not, what happens?

So true!! But what I have noticed is it’s like the careful people vs the reckless people.

Elected Dems: hear the GOP make a ridiculous claim. Will investigate the veracity of it. Determine the truth and a day later respond and call it out as a lie. - Ie. Jaime Raskin, a smart legal mind. A careful responsible man.

Elected GOP: hear a ridiculous claim. Spread the rumor far and wide. It’s disproven days later. They don’t apologize. They change the subject. Damage is done. Ie. Ted Cruz. Or worse, they double down on the lies. Ie.- MTG.

This is beyond dystopian. It’s horrifying.

Thank you Olivia: Correct this is not a conspiracy it is a fact. This crap is happening. Everyone and I mean everyone , including MAGA is in jeopardy Correct, Elon Musk was just the diversion to this assault. He did a head long up front attack on all the institutions while Peter Thiel did a flanking maneuver, hiding the the shadows gathering all your personal data. If you are reading this blog, your personal data, how you vote, medical, financial , everything about you is presently in a data base. My personal assumption is: The Heritage Foundation and Palantir have been in the hopper for a few years. Fascist governments don't just happen over night. It slither in like honey under a door jamb. I suspect Stephen Miller is also lurking in the shadow. One concern of mine is it going to be used to rig an election.

Shirlee's avatar

Of course Peter Theil and TeamTrumpet will rig all elections, if they even bother with the pretense. Given TeamTrumpet’s love of self aggrandizement, they’ll probably put on an “election “ show to brag about. At taxpayer expense. Even if we choose not to pay taxes TheilTrumpet will be able to garnish paychecks and threaten people in all sorts of ways.

Again, Power this type of Power in the Wrong hands, has shown the Human Weakness, Greed, self justified Arogance, wrapped in the Old: We know what's best for you, for we're seen it Acted out in the Very Movies we've watched, and Now They offer their Altered Reality with them in Control, Yes We Have Arrived, P2025, we Have Arrived 2025. Was it a Lie? Did They Lie? Are They Deceiving us Now? Answer: Look at the nose on your face, is it There?

Let's revisit American history during the 1960s and 70s that lead to the reforms within the Intelligence Community at the time. maybe it is time to dust off the documentation from the Church and Pike commissions. Let's revisit Watergate as well. And just for nostalgia's sake, revisit the unholy mess unleashed by the Warrantless Wire Taps approved under the Patriot Act. That program almost caused myself and lots of other IC employees to walk away in disgust. Palantir is a very efficient program for tracking people and relationships. All of these things have one common factor-- all were done by Republican Admimistrations....

Don’t you also think that cronyism literally weakens national security? I look at what Ukraine just accomplished w the attack on Russia, and it is an impressive accomplishment by Ukraine but also shows the Russian weakness. They were caught w their pants down… the Putin gov were so busy enriching themselves and their buddies instead of hiring real talent… that they ultimately got complacent and didn’t even recognize their own weaknesses.

Makes me wonder if “favored contractor” status breeds the same kind of lazy lack of careful research and development. Competition breeds invention and ingenuity. Maybe I’m being optimistic, I’m hoping Palantir does a faceplant.

On the other hand, if they build something that stores all our private info but leaves it vulnerable to hacking - ugh. Worst of all worlds!!
