Always a great read from a great person:

"The following day, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said election officials who refuse to comply with the administration’s directives could face fines and even prison. He also vowed to withhold federal election security funding from states that don’t comply."

SEE YOU IN COURT

"After two fatal ICE shootings in Maine and Texas, DHS temporarily halted many vehicle stops while the incidents were reviewed. But after President Trump publicly praised traffic stops as one of ICE’s “most important and effective” enforcement tools, the administration quickly reversed course. That wasn’t surprising."

Olivia, escalation will continue as a ramp up to the mid-terms. It is a scare tactic designed to keep people from the polls. It is 100% assured as he gets desperate that it will increase. I listened to your interview with JA. Love you both and you are an excellent source of information

If Trump stops/challenges the results of the midterms, we have lost democracy. He’s stacked SCOTUS as well as many appeals courts around the country. For now, the appeals courts are following the law. What does the day after an election that has been interfered with by POTUS look like? The potential of this interference will keep many at home.

Olivia's commentary is, as usual, thoughtful and well-centered. I think she missed a secondary or perhaps parallel point about voter registration. The Trump administration believes that voters who oppose Trump are more likely to fail the documentation tests they propose. The voter registration push is not really about suppressing illegal voting. It is about suppressing opposition votes.

Well, we can’t really count on an administration lacking intelligence to understand raw intelligence vs finished intelligence…

The intelligence of this administration centers around conniving manipulation of the public. They all parrot each other spewing bias and racism. And that isn’t surprising since they all have the same goal… staying in power and enriching themselves in a white supremacist country.

You have covered some truly scary news today. What will happen when trump's gestapo takes over militarily under the pretext of election security?

Among the many frailties of our system, it seems that there is no clear-cut rule on the independence of the DOJ and federal judiciary. It seems independence was basically running on good faith when there was consensus for for independence. With those in power now claiming the DOJ is part of the executive branch - and answerable to it - there is nothing to maintain independence. Would be interested in more thoughts on this. Is the assessment basically right? What can be done to make sure the DOJ is independent and not a puppet for the administration - any administration.
