Rewriting history doesn’t change what happened. It seems as though there is no lowest level. We reach new lows in vile and disgusting behavior every single day. I fear for us all. Democrats need to target Independents. They will be where this fight for democracy will be won.
It doesn't have to change what happened. All it has to do is change people's perceptions of what happened. Millions of USians think the Civil War was all about state's rights and had nothing to do with slavery. Millions more think "manifest destiny" was a good thing (maybe even a God thing) and don't connect it to the genocide of Native peoples.
History is being continually rewritten. Often the results broaden and deepen our understanding of what happened. Sometimes, however, the rewriting is all about erasing and distorting, as is going on in Florida and elsewhere.
It is the erasure that’s concerning. Seems we are currently experiencing the effects of the adage “those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.
These people are sick and evil! They really want to side with Hitler? That is insane! The Holocaust cannot be denied. There is so much information out there. We must guard our education system to make sure kids are taught the truth.
Also, when people want to eliminate oversight it’s because they want to lie, cheat & steal!

Olivia i look forward to these covfefe columns even as 😳. in high school (1972) i watched the Nuremberg Trials film - shuddering, even in the black and white film). i recall Gov Reagan being po’d about students holding protests against the American war in Vietnam (that’s what the Vietnamese call it); he declared there had to be an end to critical thinking being taught in education. while serving as president he fulfilled 60% of the Heritage Foundation list given to him. this included reframing Liberalism - all as equal - to Neoliberalism. somehow only money counts, people be damned. with GWBush establishing ICE ( now a brute squad) and clear compiling all phone records NSA no surprise there is no longer secure privacy but that they can turn our phones into listening devices freaks me out as does the demise of any safeguards for people.

They knew what he was, and should have known about project 2025, which became public a year and a half before the election. Yet they voted for a convicted felon, an adjudicated rapist, insurrectionist, etc. And sadly, 34-36% of registered voters did not even vote! Do you think the non-voters and the ones that voted for the mango are just ignorant, apathetic, brainwashed, or all three? Obviously, these people have lost or never had a moral compass. I can’t stop thinking about MAGA’s plan to rewrite history… I keep remembering one of the 4-year-old children I worked with ask another 4-year-old “What is a Nazi?” And the other child replied “They’re evil, just evil”. I want to find that little boy (a grown man now) and shake his hand. He had more sense at 4 than many grown ass adults have now days!

There is a term for what is happening to Americans now. It is called BRAINWASHING. Don't fall for it.
