This is the most comprehensive take I have read on the hypocrisy of MAGA. I hugely appreciate your citing specific examples of each aspect that can be referenced and used as concrete evidence in talking points. It’s edifying when we know what we see but can’t always put our finger directly on it (since there’s just so much). Thank you!!

I think it is a perfect take. Well said and much appreciated.

Excellent points and the best F__ all y'all I've seen on this actual normal reaction to the reality of what's coming. As one of the 92% I am not alone in rexamining Blaxit because if the US is not going to be safe for the white and well off, well I can kiss my middle income retired Black ass goodbye. This has happened in the past think of 1933 Germany and if you think its going to get better, trust and believe it's not. Cruelty doesn't just apply to immigrants and living in the DMV many many immigrants are from Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. Not to mention the Muslim ban and banning of books and teaching history. I don't blame Biden, no truly loving parent would sacrifice their child for a principle. He's an outgoing head of state, not Abraham answering a call from God and he knows the Devil when he sees him. If anything, the pardon reinforces the decency of this President. Let us pray we can elect another one in only 4 years.

Olivia, as a relative nobody to the world-at-large, I have little to fear from an unhinged Trump administration. But I worry for brave, high-profile people such as yourself. Please let us know what we can do to be of help to you. It's probably going to be a very long four years for folks such as yourself with the courage to stand up to the Day One Dictator.

And if I were in Biden's place, I too would have pardoned my child without a second thought or a single pang of guilt. And who wouldn't?

Thank you Olivia. I’m so sorry that a woman of principle like you has to endure the cruelty of Trump snd Friends. Joe Biden knew that Trump and his buddies would come after Hunter with all the cruelty that we have seen for years. Let Hunter go. Democrats need to grow spines and stop beating themselves up. Wake up.

This is a great take all around. And like you, I've been a bit shocked at the Dems who seem so bothered by the Hunter pardon. The immediate rush to "this will just give Trump license to..." -- as if he needed license to do anything?! Like you said, he's already done these things, and would continue to do them anyway. It's absolutely mind-boggling that somehow people are finding a way to blame ANY of Trump's behavior on....Joe Biden?!?

The way I described it on Bluesky was it's as if Trump sets a house on fire intentionally, and as it's burning, Biden happens to light a very small fire elsewhere just to get rid of some trash. It's a very controlled fire, and not damaging anything else at all. But everyone starts screaming about him setting that fire and saying, "Well now you're just gonna give Trump an excuse to set fire to the entire house and burn it down", even though he's already doing it, and was gonna do it anyway....

Anyway, glad you're out of ducks. That line really quacked me up... ;)

I agree. Biden seems to be everyone’s whipping boy, punished at the smallest issue that isn’t really an issue, where T shits all over everything and he’s fine. 😡

Nailed it. Cheers. Biden faced a Sophie's choice, except one was better than the other, and so that's the one he chose.

Thank you! I appreciated your candid comments about Kash Patel on MSNBC. And thankful that you made extraordinary effort to confirm information you passed onto VP Pence. You are a true patriot.

I agree with you about President Biden's pardon for his son, Hunter. I am sure this decision weighed heavily on Biden's conscious as a devout Catholic and long serving member of Congress. There has been a lot of speculation in the news. Some attorneys familiar with Hunter's cases, felt the fact that his last name was Biden made him a target for public prosecution so they could weaken the resolve of the family. Cruelty is the point in this case.

Thank you, Olivia. Very well said. I'd like to amplify your point about the Democrats' reaction. First, Biden expressed an intention, not a promise. Sensible people change their minds when the situation radically changes. (Remember that "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.") Second, notice the timing. Biden issued the pardon right after Trump nominated a rabid dog to head the FBI. If he or Harris had been elected, the pardon would never have happened.

Perfectly said. Thanks for your thoughts and your courage.

Thank you for your continued courage to speak out to protect our democracy. we are all waiting for the other shoe to drop and need to be informed and prepared.

You are so right! Your article is well thought out and your courage is appreciated. My bewilderment is that democrats bailed on Biden and continue to cut him down and blame him for the loss of the election. My opinion they are to blame. This country is not democratic enough to elect a woman for president. Our civil rights are not valued by millions.

Your bravery in face of that loathsome FBI nominee's threats is inspiring. Thank you for knowing what truth, honor and integrity truly stand for. You are a true patriot Olivia! Thank you!!

Exceptional, especially if people have the courage to remember how MAGA Jordan, Comer, etc. and their Congressional committees spread defamation and accusations against the Biden family without evidence for years, and the trump 45 prosecutor sought blood from Hunter for crimes a commoner would have been treated far less harshly. Unpardoned, Hunter would have been buried in a federal prison by the trump 47 regime. Thank you Olivia for being so forthright 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Olivia--

THANK YOU. Moral equivalencies--the stock in trade of MAGA--and Trump--are neither moral nor equivalents. You have more cojones thanjmust about the whole House of Representatives, or at least the Republican members. Keep it up. I just wish that more people were paying attention to you. Hunter Biden was stupid; Mike Flynn, Steve Bannon, and Peter Navarro were and are all intent on destroying the nation, from what I can see. And that's OK, while Biden's pardon of his son is the end of the Western world? PLEASE!
