Thank you for giving this much needed attention and putting the gravity of it into perspective. This and other firings of distinguished, knowledgeable heads of agencies demands much attention and discussion.

Competency is being spirited out of this FUBAR administration by bullet-train carloads, and either not immediately replaced, or total nincompoops installed...goddam right it's a 5-alarm fire, ffs!

Yeah this is the stuff that really is terrifying . It barely gets attention from mainstream media amidst all the distractions and clown show freak show stuff that trump is so good at.

Nance also brings up this concerning removal of Haugh and Noble at NSA. Thank you for helping us lay people connect the dots

It's really at a severe crisis level I fear. This is putting our entire country's security at risk. I just found out that the orange Mussolini has closed the FOIA office. He wants no scrutiny at all, he wants the public to be completely blind. There's no way to research government agencies/documents now, the FOIA office is empty, closed.

We're in serious trouble 😢

Many thanks Olivia, outstanding article for keeping us updated on the hellscape unfolding. 🙏💕

Wow. A frightening but necessary piece, thank you. For some months I’ve waited for the current regime to move on NSA, because it really is the last piece to establish full-blown Big Brother control over ordinary Americans.

What many people fail to understand about our intelligence community is the outsize role that integrity plays. Yes, there are laws that prohibit this powerful apparatus from being used against Americans except in accordance with constitutional safeguards, but the real inhibiting power is the integrity of agency leaders and of individual members. They understand, at a gut level, the enormous power they have and the enormous responsibility they bear to properly wield that power. When those leaders are replaced with compliant unprincipled toadies, the system of protection is on its way to becoming a system of terror. A few dedicated rank and file may stem the rot for a while, but soon they, too, will be replaced, and the transformation will be complete.

Let us also not forget the horrible SC decision in overturning Roe, where the court essentially determined that there is no constitutional right to privacy. The decision was applicable only to women for the time being, but there is absolutely nothing to prevent extending that decision to all Americans.

With an agency staffed by incompetent and immoral opportunists and a SC eager to erase decades of a constitutional interpretation guaranteeing Americans’ right to privacy, there is a high probability that our intelligence community will cease to be a bulwark of protection and become a rabid attack dog turned on Americans.

Extremely disturbing knowing how ESSENTIAL their work is to National Security and to consumer protection. This is criminal.

Thank you Olivia for sharing this information. You are a well-spoken, true patriot. I cry to think of our brave forefathers, including my Dad who fought in WWII against Hitler and fascism, enduring and risking their lives so this kind of thing wouldn’t happen.

Thank you Olivia. This is absolutely terrifying and I wasn't aware of all of it and I stay on top of the news. There is so much that it's hard to keep up with all of it. This is a nightmare in real time.

The press focused on the fact that Laura Loomer met with Trump and convinced him to fire several members of the NSA who she claimed were disloyal to him. It was very disturbing to hear that Loomer has so much influence but the actual national security implications were not discussed at all. This fits the pattern of valuing perceived loyalty over competence and experience.

Thank you, Olivia for opening our eyes to what is really going on behind our backs in secret. We need more of your insight to inspire us to stand and fight against these injustices on our democracy. Thank you Olivia !

Now MAGA is murdering Congresswoman and her husband in Wisconsin because they can’t win elections against our candidates

It's hard to believe we are all just watching this bad faith administration destroy our security one step at a time. It's death by a 1,000 cuts.

We ignore Olivia’s warning at our peril. We have a duty to pay attention and to exert pressure on our elected representatives in Congress to stand up for our privacy rights as Americans and against this dangerous regime.

Thank you to everyone who liked my comment in response to Olivia’s post.

Thank you so much for your insight and willingness to share it during these very troubling times. It will take people like you to get us through this nightmare.

As a retired NSA'er, this is nothing less than a national tragedy. Yes, there is no doubt the giant orange menace will try to reconstitute something close to the warrantless wiretap program W implemented. Gabbard is a Russian sympathizer, as are most of the mediocre white men the giant orange menace has put in place. The giant orange menace is still upset about the fact the IC had the goods on the Russian interference in the 2016 election.

My dad worked as an IBM customer engineer at NSA. I am so glad he did not live to see this day.

I keep thinking about your note about your dad and NSA...given more recent news now as well, this is all very worrisome...

Thanks for the detailed red alert, Olivia. I had seen the basic news and thought I was appropriately alarmed, but your spelling it out provides critical context and a more flashing red! Scary stuff as the power ministries fall into line with the authoritarian initiative well underway here. We've certainly had our share of abusive government leaders over the years but this all seems unprecedented in speed, scale, and comprehensiveness. It's going to take enormous, sustained effort with the energy of April 5 every day to turn this around.

Thank you for shining more light on: "General Timothy Haugh was ignominiously removed as dual-hatted Director of the National Security Agency (NSA) and Commander of U.S. Cyber Command" as well as the news that "Wendy Noble, the highly respected civilian Deputy Director of the NSA, was also reassigned back to the Department of Defense."

I discern that by these moves Trump intends to hide all information about his treasonous behavior at Putin's behest, and his anti-American attack on all that protects our Constitution.
