I applaud the actions by Dr. Monarez and Dr. Demetre Daskalakis. These are brave souls in a sea of cowards.

Watch the reactions of Bernie Sanders and the man behind Senator Warren while Senator Warren was questioning RFKJR 😁

Whoever controls the funding ultimately controls the activity and the personnel. As we have seen, it can be hijacked very quickly by those in power. When Trump is gone, we might well consider buffering the connection between the CDC and Congress, its primary funder. More viruses and their vectors (like mosquitoes and tropical fruit bats) will be travelling north in a warming world. It will be vital for our survival to protect the research from political whims. WHO has a foundation that takes donations from multiple governments, institutions, charities, medical groups, and corporations with a vested interest in health. When the air clears from the stink of RFKJr and Trump's revenge tour, perhaps something like this would ensure that interference of such a substantial and damaging nature doesn't happen again.

Thank you for your courage and dedication to truth. As a nurse for over 40 years, I am terrified for this country's health. People are going to die because of RFK and every coward in congress.

We are entering a second Dark Ages. It's bad enough when an increasing number of people think "doing their own research" is reliable (given the amount of junk on the internet), so they discard collectively hundreds of years of expertise. But when our government is behind it - the enemy is "in the house," as they say in horror movies. I was moved to tears when I saw the video of Drs Monarez, Daskalakis, and their colleagues being applauded as they exited the CDC. And I saw many public health officers - in uniform - lined up on the sidewalk, similarly paying tribute. Still brings me to tears, just thinking of it.

BTW, folks, if you don't already, please subscribe to Your Local Epidemiologist. It's a substack written by Katelyn Jaetana (sp?) an MPH who is an excellent science communicator, she writes with detail but accessible to a general audience.

I stand with dr. Monarez and all the scientists of the CDC. I’m sick and tired of Trump, his stupidity, his need for vengeance for his anyone that has tried to hold him responsible for all his criminal actions.

RFK can start counting right here!! How ridiculously insulting to the families of those who died from the virus to sit there and claim he had no stinking clue who died. Let’s remind RFK that the bulk head of deaths happened on DJT’s watch!! If there’s a discrepancy in data it came from diaper Don, not Biden. This is my mom’s death certificate. (Available for Olivia in its entirety. Info blocked online for obvious reasons). @Olivia of Troye

Ty Olivia. I tried to post a pic of her death certificate but I think I failed. Apparently I’m technically challenged.

More than anything I just want to raise awareness about what this administration is really doing and how they’re endangering our health. Sorry if I come across bitter and mad about it all. I am mad about it but I am also starting to realize teaching awareness is better than throwing stones. Ty for replying Olivia. It means a lot ❤️

The only principle guiding MAGA is that the trash is superior and health care is for the inferior races. The big guy has fought all his life to show that he won everytime and so is determined to go down as the biggest loser of all time. He has burned down or wrecked every place he has lived or wirked.

I also worry that companies will have less incentive/capability to develop vaccines. The combination of demand potentially reduced, likely fewer scientists being trained to support R&D (both for lack of funding and questionable job prospects) and the increased risk of lawsuits (that's how RFK Jr got rich) does not bode well.

I watched the entire hearing with RFK Jr today and noticed how openly defensive and defiant he was from the very beginning of the “hearing” through the end.

So many of the senators’ comments towards him about being ignorant, a charlatan, lying, etc, reaffirms their total lack of confidence in him. The fact that he has no idea how many people died from Covid, his awful actions at HHS, his firing of Dr Monarez, many other employees and the doctors who have resigned is alarming and shows how incompetent he is for being secretary of HHS.

His non-medical background really brings this issue home. He tried peddling his crap to Kamala Harris and thankfully was told “no thanks” and sent packing.

His actions are an insult to everyone in the medical profession, the people of the USA and he needs to be fired asap.

Ultimately, I blame the cowardly enablers in Congress who put this deadly idiot into the position of HHS Secretary. They could have prevented this and if they have any courage or brains they will remove him before more disastrous decisions are enacted.

Senator Thune, when asked of his confidence in Kennedy, said his confidence didn't matter. It was the president's confidence that did. What?!? Trump said he liked Kennedy because he was "different". Huh? Meanwhiie, during that horrid testimony yesterday, Kennedy undercut all of the major medical organizations in saying they had been "coopted" and were not reliable. He's a dangerous hack, a quack, and a damn liar to boot! This is dangerous tolks!

RFK is, essentially, a serial killer. He's incredibly dangerous and has to go. I have much respect for the people at the CDC who resigned in protest after the firing of Dr. Monarez.

Expect to see the administration rebrand the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to a name that more accurately reflects RFK Jr.’s “vision”. Or it will simply be eliminated.
